Our Lady of Guadalupe, mystical rose, make intercession for the Holy Church, protect the Sovereign Pontiff, help all those who invoke thee in their necessities, and since thou art the ever Virgin Mary and Mother of God, obtain for us from thy most holy Son the grace of keeping our faith, sweet hope in the midst of the bitterness of life, burning charity and the precious gift of final perseverance. Amen.

flag of mexico
Under President Benito Juarez (president from 1858 to 1872) the colors of the Mexican flag were declared to represent hope (green), unity (white), and blood of the national heroes (red). The Mexican Coat of Arms is from an Aztec legend. In the legend, the leader of the Aztecs was told by the god Huitzilopochtli to build their capital city where he found an eagle sitting on a cactus holding a serpent. The city, Tenochtitlan, stood where Mexico City stands today.
